In 2006 I saw an opportunity in the aviation market to deliver a fully
transactional online quote and booking system for private aircraft.
Myself and my business partner recruited a small development team put in
the start up capital and developed a business which dynamically
generated prices for flights accurate enough to sell commercially
online. It was the first website of its kind!
The business was quickly noticed and acquired by PrivatAir who described
it as the most advanced private aviation technology available on the
web.
The angle built into this business was that coming from a non aviation
background allowed us to have a fresh approach and develop simple
formulas for generating prices.
Combining these formulas with our hand built airport/aircraft data and
geo code experience allowed us to deliver a product which was streets
ahead of the competition!
I designed the commercial process of the business how the technically
operated then managed the development and sale of the business.
The sale of the business returned a ROI multiple of 20.
My role as CEO of the company involved:
- Identifying the opportunity.
- Analysis of the private aviation industry.
- Designing the technical and commercial process of the business.
- Managing the technical and design teams.
- Developing and negotiating the transaction which lead to the company being sold.
I exited the business when the business had been successfully integrated into PrivatAir’s corporate structure.
